Five For Friday
I’m back with a few of my favorites that have been getting me through Lockdown3 in the UK. My son said that he didn’t want to start numbering them because that meant they might not end (this was back during Lockdown2) and I fear he might be right!
But here are five things I’ve been enjoying.
Cobra Kai. Okay so I’m an 80s girl but wasn’t a huge Karate Kid fan, I saw the movie a couple of times in theaters and saw the sequel, but wasn’t really keen on watching a tv series. My daughter said just watch one—she was convinced I’d love it and she was right. There is so much I love about this, if you do watch it a warning that there are a few violent scenes but the redemption arch for Johnny Lawrence, the rivalry with Daniel LaRusso and Johnny’s mentee Miguel are all worth it.
Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey. I love this book way more than I thought I would. Its part biography, part life lessons and I’m totally there for all of it. I said to my daughter that I think Matthew McConaughey might be one of the sages of our time. And I stand by that. I mean he’s also totally off the hook as well, but the wisdom he’s picked up on his journey is really interesting.
Nigella Lawson’s ‘Emergency brownies’. This is a quick and easy brownie recipe that makes enough for one (or two people if you’re feeling generous). Loved them.
Richard Osman’s House of Games. This might only be available in the UK, but I am crushing it on the Answer Smash category every day. It’s so much fun. If you get the chance to catch on BBC iPlayer, I highly recommend it.
Texan For The Taking. I can’t let the week’s top five go without mention the thrill of having a new book released. I’m always nervous with each new book, hoping the readers will love it as much as I do. The reviews have been very kind and I’m so happy that everyone is digging Jock and Delilah’s love story as much as I did.
That’s it for this week. I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
Take care, Kathy
