Today’s writing
(posted 20 Jun 2008)
I’ve always known that I would be a story teller. I didn’t know how I would tell my stories when I was little because I didn’t always write them down. But I did know that my imagination was a place where I’ve always been most comfortable.
I’m working on a story now…BARE NERVE which will be in bookstores next February…with a heroine who is more at home in front of her computer than with people. She likes the anonymity of solving crimes by tracking down information and capturing criminals. In that way she’s very like me as a writer. I create characters and live a very exciting life on the pages of my books.
Anna, my heroine, doesn’t get to stay in her own safe little world when the bad guy who she thinks will be a simple white collar criminal takes her and her teammates at Liberty Investigations on a dangerous journey into Algiers.
Algiers holds a lot of memories for Anna who was kidnapped from the British Embassy in Algiers as a child. She was held for four days while her father dealt with trying to save his daughter and live up to what the British government needed from him. That incident set Anna on the path to the life she’s living today. And now she’s back in Algiers and facing two life altering events…a man who she is attracted to but doesn’t like
It’s a fun story and I’m really enjoying exploring Anna’s neurosis!
Happy reading!!!

Congrats Celtics!
(posted 18 Jun 2008)
Last night’s NBA Finals game totally rocked! I guess if you are Jack Nicholson or any other LA Lakers fan you might have a different opinion. But the Celtics were on fire, playing like a team and hungry for a win the same way The New York Giants were at Superbowl time.
I loved that game. I loved the team work too between all the Celtics. That’s what team sports should be about–team work. So many times I see it not only in professional sports but also in amateur ones were one player is more skilled at the game and the team plays consist of that player making all the big plays.
And that’s fine for one game when the team’s not getting it together but I feel last night that’s what hurt the Lakers. They needed to play as a team not as Kobe’s back up team…
Okay I’m not a sports journalist and this is only my opinion! I was going for the Celtics because my own team the Mavericks were out of the Finals.
I’m sure that Boston partied hard last night and I know they will enjoy this victory!

Natasha Bedingfield
(posted 17 Jun 2008)
My guy and I went to this concert last Friday night at the House of Blues and it totally rocked! I really wasn’t too familiar with any of Natasha’s songs except Unwritten which has been my ballad for writing or not writing since I first heard it.
The song just really taps into what I’m going through when I write and I like it! Click here to go to iTunes and preview the song.
One of the other groups playing that night was The Veronicas. They are an all girl group from Brisbane Australia. They ROCKED! I mean totally in your face girl-power hard rock. I really liked them a lot. Check them out if you like hard rock with an edge.

Getting back to Nature
(posted 16 Jun 2008)
If the impression you have after reading this blog is that I’m not a nature girl…well you are correct. But the new man in my life does like the outdoors and this weekend we tried out a one night camping trip. It was a local campground here in the Dallas area and just up the road from a fabulous shopping area!!
We had a lot of fun camping out and I really enjoyed myself.
Have you ever tried something new and realized that it wasn’t what you thought it would be?

For all you writers out there
(posted 16 Jun 2008)
Barbara Samuel is auctioning off a critique to raise money for the Avon Walk that she is doing. She’s been working up to walking a marathon. She’s wonderfully talented as a writer and the Avon Walk is a great cause. If you are interested…check out her site here. http://www.barbarasamuel.com/blog/
I hope you all have had a nice weekend. I’m hoping to post some photos from my weekend camping trip up here later this week. But I am trying to get into a routine for my writing–something I used to be good about but have lost!
So if I get my pages done early today then you will see another post this afternoon!
Happy reading and writing!
Kathy
