RWA 2008
(posted 03 Aug 2008)
I am back from the annual fun that is the RWA conference. I had a chance to visit with my BFFs in the romance writing world, talk to my editors (the lovely Natashya Wilson from Harlequin books and the fabulous Kate Duffy from Kensington Books), catch up with my agent (Pamela Hardy from the Knight Agency) and meet some really fascinating new writers (Mel Odom aka Meredith Fletcher!).
I arrived on Wednesday and immediately the fun started. Mimi picked us up at the airport and took us on a driving tour of the city. You’d think she was a native the way she knew her way around San Francisco’s streets (cue the music from that old TV show!) but she had only been in the city for a little less than a week. We checked into the hotel and I headed upstairs to my room only to find some regency era costumed people already occupying the space. I thought I’d stepped into some sort of Twilight Zone until they laughingly explained that Julia Justiss had offered to let them use our room as a dressing room for the Beau Monde’s annual workshop.
I had lunch with my good friend and Silhouette Special Edition author Nancy Robards Thompson, former Golden Heart finalists Debbie Pfieffer and Teresa Elliot Brown.
We ended the evening with the annual book signing to raise money for literacy. I visited with my good friend and Harlequin SuperRomance author Eve Gaddy. And then we had dinner at The Jazz Bistro. They had yummy French cuisine and live jazz.

Afterward I hit a few parties…well I crashed the Super Authors party and had a chance to chat with Holly Jacobs. Then it was on to a party with my online writer community. We are an active group who chat online every day so it was nice to see everyone face-to-face and get a hug and just chat about life and writing.
All in all the first day of RWA was a lot of fun. I’ll post more tomorrow on the rest of my trip.
Happy Reading!
Kathy

Chatty Kathy is a place for me to share some my thoughts on whatever topic I'm interested in. Lots of reviews of books I've read, some commentary on music that I like and some fun stuff that is related to whatever book I'm
