Blue Smoke and Murder
(posted 13 Jun 2008)
Sounds ominous doesn’t it?!
This is the title of the latest book from Elizabeth Lowell. It’s a romantic suspense set in the art world but specifically the art world that focuses on U.S. Western Paintings. That’s a very small world and the bad guys in this book hope to keep the collections of American Western Painters limited to increase the value of the works that they hold.
The heroine, Jill Breck, is a whitewater rafting guide who has saved the son of a very powerful man. This man owes her a favor and when her life is threatened she calls in that favor.
She gets a bodyguard named Zach Balfour who is good with all kinds of lifesaving tricks and also happens to know a lot about the Western Art World. Together they embark on a journey to protect Jill’s life but also uncover the truth of the artist who’s work is at the center of the threat to Jill.
I loved this book. But it wasn’t really a surprise to me since Elizabeth Lowell has long been one of my favorite authors. This book is part of a series involving St. Kilda and you get to see some characters from the other books.
If you are looking for an exciting, sexy book, check this one out!
