Glenda Sanders
(posted 01 Feb 2008)
I just learned that one of my early writing mentors passed away a few weeks of you. Some of you diehard romance readers may remember Glenda’s Temptations or her historical books for Avon
She had a way of blending serious topics like being homeless (in Human Touch a book that won RWA’s prestigious RITA award) with humor. Her books were always touching and always a joy to read.
In person she was also a joy to be around. She could make you laugh over silly things like her collection of pigs. She was also very wise about the publishing business when I first met her. I was an unpublished author who didn’t know much except I wanted to sell a book to Silhouette. Once I did make that sale, Glenda took me under her wing and gave me lots of advice and guidance.
I lost touch with her a few years ago when I moved to Dallas but I always thought of her and read the articles she wrote for a Central Florida newspaper on the web. I knew she’d found happiness in her new life and was enjoying herself.
I will miss her, but I’m very glad that we have her books to remember her by.
Do you have a favorite book by someone who’s passed on? A month ago one of my favorite artists -Dan Fogelberg died and I found solace in listening to his songs.
Happy Reading,
Kathy

Chatty Kathy is a place for me to share some my thoughts on whatever topic I'm interested in. Lots of reviews of books I've read, some commentary on music that I like and some fun stuff that is related to whatever book I'm
