Poetry
(posted 27 Nov 2007)
Today my good friend and fabulous author Nancy Robards Thompson is highlighting poetry on her blog. I have to admit I don’t read a lot of poetry save for that of my friends. But when I started writing, I started with poems.
The subject of most of my poems was dark, angsty stuff that seemed to fit my late teens and early twenties. But I haven’t written anything in years. I find that I need more words to get my point across.
I do have a fun magnetic poetry board in my office behind my desk. I use the magnetic words as an exercise to get my mind going when I’m stuck on a book I’m writing. A lot of times I simply pretend I’m either the hero or the heroine of my work in progress and then describe the other character in those poetic terms. It gives me some insight into the character and a lot of times shows me something about him or her I didn’t know.
I hope you enjoy the poetry at Nancy’s website. Today’s poem was written by Rob Elser who is a dear friend of mine. His poem is very touching and brought tears to my eyes.
Happy reading!
Kathy

Chatty Kathy is a place for me to share some my thoughts on whatever topic I'm interested in. Lots of reviews of books I've read, some commentary on music that I like and some fun stuff that is related to whatever book I'm
